What it might cost you.
A kitchen doesn't have a catalogue price: it has a length, a finish and a worktop, and that's where the figure comes from. This explains what moves the price, what is always included and how it gets fixed, so you arrive at the showroom able to compare.
What is always in the quote.
Whatever the kitchen, the quote you sign has this in it. We say so here because it is exactly what varies most from one quote to another, and where the differences hide when you compare two.
The cabinets, all of them
Wall units, base units, tall units and the hardware: full-extension runners with soft close and soft-close hinges, as standard. There is no cheaper version of the same cabinet with worse hardware.
The worktop and the sink
In the material you choose, cut to your measurements and with the cut-outs made. It is the line that moves the price most, so it is always written down and never «to be confirmed».
Delivery and fitting
Our own team fits it, not a different subcontractor each time. It goes in the quote with its own price, neither hidden inside the price of the cabinets nor turning up as an extra at the end.
Building work, separate and with its own figure
If a partition wall, the floor, the plumbing or the wiring has to be touched, it goes as a separate, priced line. Never buried inside the cabinet price to make the figure look like something else.
Why a kitchen costs what it costs.
Three things move the price, and they are worth knowing before you compare quotes.
The metres of furniture
It is measured in linear metres of run. Going from three metres to four means four or five more units, not a surcharge.
The worktop
It is the line that moves most. From laminate to porcelain there can be three times the price in the very same kitchen.
Appliances
Brand and range change them completely. If you already have one that fits, it gets reused and the total comes down.
The building work is quoted separately, but we do it. If a wall has to come out, the floor has to change or the services have to move, it is quoted as its own line and carried out by our team. No need to go looking for a builder.
Ask at the appointmentWhy there are no free appliances here.
If you have been looking at kitchens these past weeks, you will have seen the same three things: free appliances, a large discount percentage and a deadline. All three work the same way, and it is worth knowing how, because that is what will let you really compare.
| What you see | How it works | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 free appliances | The bundle is inside the price of the furniture. It is usually entry-level kit from one particular brand, and it cannot be swapped or deducted. | How much does the quote drop if I turn the bundle down? |
| 40% off | A discount is a percentage off a list price. If the seller sets the list price and never publishes it, the percentage tells you nothing. | Can you show me the list price it is applied to? |
| VAT included, or VAT on us | VAT on a home renovation can be 10% if the conditions are met, and 21% otherwise. It is a statutory rate, not a gift from the shop. | Which VAT rate does my quote carry, and why? |
| Only until the 31st | It exists so that you decide before you compare. If the offer comes back next month, it was not a deadline, it was a nudge. | Will this price still be the same in three weeks? |
We are not saying anyone is cheating: these are normal, legal commercial practices and excellent showrooms use them. We are saying they make it very hard to compare two quotations, which is exactly what you need to do.
We give nothing away
Because what is given away is paid for anyway, just without you seeing it. What we do is tell you what is in the figure and what isn't, line by line, and let you compare it with anyone you like.
Every line with its own figure
Cabinets, worktop, appliances, delivery and fitting, each with its own. The building work, if there is any, goes separately and with its own too, not as a surprise at the end.
Closed at the appointment, in writing
With your measurements and your finishes. There is no second visit where the price goes up because this time it was measured properly.
Before you sign anything, take both quotations home. The guide has a page that tells you exactly which lines to compare and where the differences usually hide.
How to compare two quotationsWith the price of yours, in an hour.
Come to the showroom with your measurements. We design your kitchen in front of you and you leave with a fixed quote in writing.
